Due to the various system requirements from different electronics manufacturers, we encourage you to refer to the CableCARD installation instructions that are provided by the manufacturer of your device.

  1. Before installing:
    • Record the Serial Number for activation. This number can be found on the reverse side of your Motorola CableCARD (as shown above).
  2. After installing your CableCARD and a short delay, you will see the picture similar to what is illustrated below:

In order to start cable service for this device, please contact your cable provider:

  1. Record the Host ID and Data ID of your device for activation

Now that you have the Serial, Host ID, and Data ID numbers, call 1-888-438-2427, follow the prompts and indicate that you need to activate your device.

CableCARD with Motorola Tuning Adapter

If you are self-installing your CableCARD in conjunction with a Motorola tuning adapter, the following diagram will help you make the appropriate connections.

NOTE: For connecting a tuning adapter with a CableCARD You Must Provide SDV Tuning Adapter compatible device. Charter will provide the SDV (Switched Digital Video) Tuning Adapter, CableCARD and USB cable.

Your Motorola tuning adapter may look like this:

  1. Connect a coaxial cable from the wall plate to a 2-way splitter. Run another coaxial cable from the 2-way splitter to the "RF In" of the Motorola Tuning Adapter.
  2. Run coaxial cable from the 2-way splitter to the CableCARD device's "Cable In" port.
  3. Connect the USB cable to the CableCARD device, then to the Tuning Adapter.

  1. Before installing:

  2. After installing your CableCARD and a short delay, you will see the picture similar to what is illustrated below.

  1. Record the Host ID of your device for activation.

CableCARD with Cisco Tuning Adapter

If you are self-installing your CableCARD in conjunction with a Cisco tuning adapter, the following diagram will help you make the appropriate connections.

NOTE: Please be advised that when Cisco Tuning Adaptors are hooked up to Charter's network for the first time, they may take 45 mins to 2 hours to become active.

NOTE: For connecting a tuning adapter with a CableCARD You Must Provide SDV Tuning Adapter compatible device. Charter will provide the SDV (Switched Digital Video) Tuning Adapter, CableCARD and USB cable.

Your Cisco tuning adapter may look like this:
