Kindle Fire WiFi & Email Connection

Follow the Steps below to connect your Kindle Fire to your Charter WiFi and your Charter.net Email account

Wireless Connection

To connect your Kindle Fire to your wireless network:

  1. Tap the Quick Settings icon http://ask.charter.com/uploads/Kindle%20Fire/Kindle%20Fire%20Settings%20Button%20Little.ccom in the top right hand corner of the Home screen
  2. Select Wi-Fi
  3. Ensure the box is checked next to Wireless Networking switch
  4. A list of networks will appear. If your network doesn't appear tap the box next to Wireless Networking off and on to refresh the list
  5. Tap the name of the network you wish to join
  6. If a lock symbol appears next to your network, it requires a password. Enter the characters of the password using the onscreen keyboard
  7. Tap Connect

Once you are connected to a Wi-Fi network, your Kindle Fire automatically connects to it again when that network is in range.

If more than one previously used network is in range, your Kindle Fire automatically connects to the network that was most recently used.

Charter Email

To add a Charter.net Email account to your Kindle Fire:

  1. Tap on Apps from the top of screen

  1. If no email has been set up tap Start. If an email is already setup tap Menu and Add Account

  1. On the Select E-mail Provider list screen, choose Other

  1. Enter your Email address and password and tap Next

  1. Tap IMAP

IMAP

  1. On the next screen the Kindle Fire will populate the fields SOME OF THESE SETTINGS MUST BE CHANGED
  • Username – This will be your full Charter.net Email address (You will need to add the @charter.net)
  • Password - This should not need to be changed
  • IMAP server - This field should be changed from mail.charter.net to mobile.charter.net
  • Security type - This should be changed to SSL (always)
  • Authentication type - This field should be left at PLAIN
  • Port - This field should be 993

email settings

  1. Tap Next
  2. On the next screen the Kindle Fire will populate the fields SOME OF THESE SETTINGS MUST BE CHANGED
  • SMTP server - This field should be changed from mail.charter.net to mobile.charter.net
  • Security type - This should be changed to SSL (always)
  • Port - This field should be 587
  • Require sign-in - This box should be checked

email settings

  1. Tap Next
  2. Choose how often you want to automatically check for new email from the pull down menu and hit Next to continue.

  1. Give the account a name and tap on View your inbox to complete the process
