An amplifier, sometimes referred to as a signal booster, is an electrical device installed inside a customer’s home to increase cable signal level to outlets. When needed, an amplifier is installed in a customer’s home at the time of install or via a separate service visit.
Increasing the cable signal level is sometimes necessary when one or more of the following cause signal loss:
- more than 5 outlets are activated within a home, regardless of the type of service
- long cable runs are needed
- multiple splitters are used
- cable plant issues
