Activating a New or Replacement Modem

To Activate a Modem for your new Charter Internet Service or swap an existing modem, follow the steps below.

Ensure you have all of the needed equipment:

  • Modem
  • Coaxial Cable
  • Ethernet or USB Cord
  • Power Cord

Connect your Modem

  • Follow the instructions included in your self install kit or click here for detailed instructions.
  • Open your Web Browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, etc.)
  • It should automatically open a Charter page to "Identify Your Account," if not surf to http://install.charter.com.

To Install new Charter Internet Service:

  1. Select "Install New Service"
  2. Enter your Telephone or Account Number and Zip Code.
  3. Click Next and follow the easy steps for Internet Self Installation.
  4. Test your connection by surfing to http://www.charter.net/
  5. If you need additional assistance please contact us.

Install

To replace an existing Charter Internet modem:

  1. Select "Replace My Equipment".
  2. Enter your Account Number.
  3. Enter the Cable RF MAC Address or CMAC Address located on your old modem.
  4. Click Next and follow the easy steps for Internet Self Installation.
  5. Test your connection by surfing to http://www.charter.net/
