Restarting Your Cable Modem

If you are experiencing intermittent/inconsistent internet access follow these steps to restart your cable modem.

Use the menu links below to navigate through the document

Modem Only

  1. Shut Down/Turn Off your computer
  2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the cable modem. Note: The modem pictured is just an example. The steps listed should work correctly for all modem types

  1. Wait 30 seconds then reconnect the power to the cable modem
  2. Wait 2 minutes to allow the modem to connect. The modem connection lights will be solid
  3. Turn on your computer
  4. Attempt to surf to two web pages to verify connectivity

 

Modem and Router

  1. Shut Down/Turn Off your computer
  2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the cable modem. Note: The modem pictured is just an example. The steps listed should work correctly for all modem types

  1. Wait 30 seconds then reconnect the power to the cable modem
  2. Wait 2 minutes to allow the modem to connect. The modem connection lights will be solid.  
  3. Reconnect the power to the router
  4. Wait 2 minutes to allow the router to connect.
  5. Turn on your computer
  6. Attempt to surf to two web pages to verify connectivity

 

Modem/Router Combo

  1. Shut Down/Turn Off your computer
  2. Unplug the power cord from the modem/router combined device. Note: The modem/router combo pictured is just an example. The steps listed should work correctly for all modem/router combo types

Combo wifi.ccom

  1. Wait 30 seconds then reconnect the power to the modem/router combo
  2. Wait 2 minutes to allow the modem/router combo to connect.
  3. Turn on your computer
  4. Attempt to surf to two web pages to verify connectivity
