Charter Web Helper

We have launched Charter Web Helper for all our residential and commercial business customers who subscribe to Charter Internet service and use a cable modem or gateway to connect to the Internet.  You automatically receive this service as a Charter Internet customer.  
Charter Web Helper will assist you by:

• Being redirected to the Charter Web Helper if you type an incorrect website address
• Presenting suggested sites based on your original search criteria
• Populating results based on searches that are more common or closely matched website addresses.
• Presenting other links that may help you navigate the Internet.

For additional information on Charter Web Helper choose one of the topics below.  If you prefer not to use this feature of your Charter Internet service you may disable it.  Click the Disable informational link below for information on turning off this service.

Functionality Example

For Example: cmm.com is entered into the Search Bar and Charter Web Helper is presented.  Charter Web Helper provides you with web results that may be what you were attempting to access. If a result is presented that you are searching for, you can click the result and be navigated directly to the corresponding website. Charter Web Helper will also present other links that may help you navigate the Internet.

Disable

You have two ways to disable Charter Web Helper:

Click on "Disable this Service" on the bottom right of the page.

Choose the button next to "Disabled" and click the Save Button.

Click on "Why am I here?"

Once inside the window, under can I disable this service?" click "Preferences Page"

Choose the button next to "Disabled" and click the Save Button.

Before disabling Charter Web Helper please note:

• The disable function lasts for one year.  You will need to disable on an annual basis.
• If your cable modem or gateway is replaced or exchanged, and you do not wish to use Charter Web Helper, you will need to disable it again.
• Disabling Charter Web Helper disables it for those computers connected to a single cable modem or gateway.  If you have multiple cable modems or gateways using Charter Internet, you will need to disable Charter Web Helper from a computer connected to each individual cable modem or gateway.

Re-Enable

If you disable our Charter Web Helper and wish to re-enable the service please visit: http://search.charter.net/prefs.php

Choose the button next to "Enabled" and click the Save Button.

Typo Correction Service

Typo Correction automatically fixes many common typos in web addresses (for example: ww to www and .cmo to .com). If you enter a non-existent web address, and this service is able to typo-correct the domain to a valid web address, they are taken there automatically.  The default is set to Disabled.

You can enable this feature by:

Click on "Why am I here?"

Once inside the window, under can I disable this service?" click "Preferences Page"

From the Typo Correction Section choose "Enabled" and click the Save Button.

Adult Filter

Adult Filter allows for the results to filter out adult material. Changing this setting affects the results during searches that may return adult websites. The setting can be set to Enabled or Disabled from this section, the default is set to Disabled.  To enable our Adult Filter click the button next to Enabled and click "Save"
