General

Charter Video on Demand

Charter Video On Demand (VOD) includes:

  • Free On Demand programming
  • New On Demand movies, adult programs, special events and other shows may carry a fee
  • Subscription Video On Demand (SVOD) service
  • 3D Video On Demand
  • Online On Demand - viewable on your desktop, laptop or mobile device

VOD is accessible on all your TVs connected to Charter TV service with Charter issued Digital equipment. You can watch new release movies any time with no trips to the video store. Choose from thousands of free shows from wide variety of networks. Plus, Premium channel subscribers get those channels On Demand at no extra charge.

To access Charter On Demand, tune to Channel 1 using your Charter remote.

Note: Charter On Demand services is not available in all areas.

Subscription Video On Demand (SVOD)

Video on Demand services must be available in order to subscribe to Subscription Video On Demand (SVOD).

SVOD services are subscriptions services for a monthly recurring charge. .When ordering from your TV the monthly will display and require your confirmation before being added to your account.

Pay per Purchase On Demand Programming

Tune to Channel 1 using your Charter remote to view what is available on  On Demand.  

You can also visit: www.charter.net/tv to see a complete searchable listing of programs available On Demand.

New release movies, adult programs, special events and other shows may carry fees, please check your on screen guide before ordering. Any programs that carry a fee will have a confirmation screen before they begin confirming your order. If you rent a Charter On Demand program for a fee, the purchases will be added to your monthly Charter bill, and the program title will be listed for your reference.

Billing

On Demand charges will appear in your Online My Account:

  1. Login at charter.com/myaccount
  2. Click the My Bill & Services tab
  3. Click Recent Activity- On Demand.

Note: On demand recent activity will display within 24 hours.

On Demand charges will appear on your billing statement within 2 billing cycles and will appear under the Header of "One Time Charges" and will display the title, the date ordered and the fee.

Note: Some adult content titles will be labeled as "Private Title" but will still have the date ordered and associated charges under the One Time Charges section of your bill.

3D Video On Demand

You do not need to subscribe to a 3D tier but must meet the following criteria to order/view a 3D movie On Demand.

3D Video on Demand is avilable to all VOD enabled Charter customers using Motorola or Cisco Digital set-top boxes.

  • You must have a 3DTV connected to an HDMI capable digital set-top box using a standard HDMI cable.
  • You must have a HDMI capable digital set-top box connected to their 3D TV using a standard HDMI cable(es) in order to view content in 3D. High Speed HDMI cables are not required to pass through 3D content since Charter 3D On Demand is currently offered in 720p or 1080i resolution.
  • Motorola Moxi digital set-top boxes are not capable of supporting 3D VOD content with the exception of the Moxi HD DVR 3012 model deployed in the St. Louis MO market.
  • You must have your own appropriate 3D glasses specific to their 3D TV to view 3D VOD content.
  • You must have your 3D TV's remote control.
  • Customers must manually switch their TV to 3D mode and select the appropriate orientation to watch 3D VOD movie content.

NOTE: Customers with Blu-ray players or other devices supporting full 1080p HD content need high speed HDMI cables to support those devices.

Functionality

Accessing On Demand

Tune to Channel 1 using your Charter remote where you will be directed to the Charter On Demand main menu. You may also access Charter On Demand through the main menu by pressing the On Demand button.

Remote Controls

Use the arrow keys or the play, pause, rewind, and fast-forward buttons, depending on your remote.

To get to the On Demand screen, press the "Last" or "C" button, depending on your remote, to go to the previous screen.

Use the arrow keys or the play, pause, rewind, and fast-forward buttons, depending on your remote.

Note: ABC and NBC On Demand content does not allow pause, rewind and fast forward functionality.

Parental Controls

Parental Controls you have set up on your Charter issued digital equipment will also work for On Demand.

Restarting & Stopping Program

If you stop your show and want to come back to it later, it will automatically be saved in the My Rentals or Saved Programs folder on the main On Demand menu. You can restart or resume your movie anytime within 24 hours from the original purchase at no additional charge.

Troubleshooting

On Demand Unavailable

Due to traffic on the On Demand platform, Charter On Demand may be unavailable for a short period of time. Please try accessing Charter On Demand again in a few minutes.

  1. Send a refresh signal to your digital set-top box. Click here for instructions
  2. If you are still unable to access Video On Demand try to power cycle your digital set-top box.

Motorola and Cisco/Scientific Atlanta digital set-top boxes:
Reset (power-cycle) all main/secondary digital set-top box(es) by unplugging them for 15 seconds then plugging them back in.

Moxi digital set-top boxes:
Press and hold the Reset/Power button located on the front of the MOXI box

Scrambled Picture/Digital Tiling

Stop the VOD movie/program and try restarting it from the beginning

Check behind ALL TV and cable equipment (cable box, TV, VCR, DVD, stereo digital set-top boxes, etc) and the coax cable at the wall outlet for any loose or damaged connectors

  1. Send a refresh signal to your digital set-top box. Click here for instructions
  2. If you are still unable to access Video On Demand try to power cycle your digital set-top box.

Motorola and Cisco/Scientific Atlanta digital set-top boxes:
Reset (power-cycle) all main/secondary digital set-top box(es) by unplugging them for 15 seconds then plugging them back in.

Moxi digital set-top boxes:
Press and hold the Reset/Power button located on the front of the MOXI box

Can't Access FREE On Demand Content of Some Networks

You will only have access to free VOD content that you currently subscribe to with your Charter TV service. For instance if you are trying to access content on a premium channel, such as: HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, The Movie Channel, Starz, Encore or Epix, you must subscribe to these with your TV service to have them available in Video On Demand.

If you are having trouble viewing the free VOD content for channels you subscribe to try the following:

  1. Send a refresh signal to your digital set-top box. Click here for instructions
  2. If you are still unable to access Video On Demand try to power cycle your digital set-top box.

Motorola and Cisco/Scientific Atlanta digital set-top boxes:
Reset (power-cycle) all main/secondary digital set-top box(es) by unplugging them for 15 seconds then plugging them back in.

Moxi digital set-top boxes:
Press and hold the Reset/Power button located on the front of the MOXI box

Can't Fast Forward NBC or ABC On Demand Content

VOD content located under the NBC or ABC On Demand does not have the ability to fast forward through the content. All other content under VOD has the ability to fast forward through the program.

Movie Does Not Play After Ordering

  1. Send a refresh signal to your digital set-top box. Click here for instructions
  2. If you are still unable to access Video On Demand try to power cycle your digital set-top box.

Motorola and Cisco/Scientific Atlanta digital set-top boxes:
Reset (power-cycle) all main/secondary digital set-top box(es) by unplugging them for 15 seconds then plugging them back in.

Moxi digital set-top boxes:
Press and hold the Reset/Power button located on the front of the MOXI box

Can't Record VOD

Video On Demand program recording is not allowed. You can only watch a Video on Demand program during the rental period for the program.

No On Demand Button on Remote

Access VOD directly by changing your cable box to Channel 1

Unable to Process Request/Please try Again Later/Cannot Fulfill Request at this Time

  1. Send a refresh signal to your digital set-top box. Click here for instructions
  2. If you are still unable to access Video On Demand try to power cycle your digital set-top box.

Motorola and Cisco/Scientific Atlanta digital set-top boxes:
Reset (power-cycle) all main/secondary digital set-top box(es) by unplugging them for 15 seconds then plugging them back in.

Press and hold the Reset/Power button located on the front of the MOXI box

Wrong Movie Plays after Ordering

  1. Send a refresh signal to your digital set-top box. Click here for instructions
  2. If you are still unable to access Video On Demand try to power cycle your digital set-top box.

Motorola and Cisco/Scientific Atlanta digital set-top boxes:
