Removing Specified DNS on a PC

Open the Windows Menu click the Control Panel.

In Network and Sharing Center, locate and click Manage Network Connections from the left hand menu.

Locate the Local Area Connection, right click, and select Properties.

Select Internet Protocol Version 4, and click Properties.

Under the General tab, place a bullet next to Obtain a DNS server address automatically and click OK.

Click OK within the Local Area Connection Properties window.

No need to restart for the changes to take effect.

Windows XP

  1. Depending on your XP system settings, you can access the Control Panel by either of these two methods:
    -- Click on start, click on settings and click on control panels.
    -- Click on start and click on control panels.

  2. On the left side on the window, click “Switch to Classic View” if your screen does not look like that following. Next, double-click on Network Connections.



  3. Right click on the Local Area Connection listed and click Properties.



  4. Click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), then click Properties.



  5. Under the General tab, place a bullet next to Obtain an DNS server address automatically and click OK.



  6. On the Local Area Connection Properties window, click on ok.



  7. Restart the computer.

Windows 2000

  1. On the Desktop, right click on My Network Places and select Properties to bring up the Network and Dial-up Connections screen. Next, right click on the Local Area Connection icon and select Properties.



  2. Click the Properties button.



  3. Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), then click Properties.



  4. Place a bullet to the left of Obtain DNS server address automatically and click OK.



  5. On the Local Area Connection Properties window, click OK.
