If you are experiencing intermittent/inconsistent internet access follow these steps to restart your cable modem.
Use the menu links below to navigate through the document
Modem Only
- Shut Down/Turn Off your computer
- Unplug the power cord from the back of the cable modem. Note: The modem pictured is just an example. The steps listed should work correctly for all modem types

- Wait 30 seconds then reconnect the power to the cable modem
- Wait 2 minutes to allow the modem to connect. The modem connection lights will be solid
- Turn on your computer
- Attempt to surf to two web pages to verify connectivity
- Shut Down/Turn Off your computer
- Unplug the power cord from the back of the cable modem. Note: The modem pictured is just an example. The steps listed should work correctly for all modem types

- Unplug the power cord from the router. Note: The router pictured is just an example. The steps listed should work correctly for all router types

- Wait 30 seconds then reconnect the power to the cable modem
- Wait 2 minutes to allow the modem to connect. The modem connection lights will be solid.
- Reconnect the power to the router
- Turn on your computer
- Attempt to surf to two web pages to verify connectivity
- Shut Down/Turn Off your computer
- Unplug the power cord from the modem/router combined device. Note: The modem/router combo pictured is just an example. The steps listed should work correctly for all modem/router combo types

- Wait 30 seconds then reconnect the power to the modem/router combo
- Wait 2 minutes to allow the modem/router combo to connect.
- Turn on your computer
- Attempt to surf to two web pages to verify connectivity
