Vista Connection Wizard – Step 6

The options for connection types have changed within Windows Vista from Windows XP. We are asked if we are attempting to connect via a broadband connection. Select Broadband (PPPoE) and click Next.

Vista Connection Wizard – Step 7

Our next screen will ask for login information to access the ISP’s services. Since Charter does not limit access via username and password this information can be left blank and we can name the connection.

  1. “Charter Broadband” should be input into the Connection name.
  2. Click ‘Allow other people to use this connection’ checkbox to eliminate any potential issues for multi-user PC’s.
  3. Click Connect.

Vista Connection Wizard – Step 8

When ‘Connect’ has been pressed the wizard will automatically attempt to release and renew the IP address and connect to the internet. You should then be connected to the internet. If you did not connect to the internet please contact customer care at 1-888-438-2427.
