TiVo Premiere from Charter - Using Search to Find Shows

Effective September 6, Charter will no longer sell TiVo Premiere from Charter service to customers. We are currently evaluating the integration of TiVo software and other software into our next-generation video delivery platform. Use the on-screen guide to find shows and set up recordings quickly—just press the GUIDE button on your TiVo remote. The guide displays up to two weeks of programming.

Using Search to Find Shows

Using The Guide

1. To view the guide, press the GUIDE button on your TiVo remote.

2. Press FORWARD to move the displayed time ahead, or press REWIND to move it backward. Press ADVANCE to jump 24 hours ahead, or INSTANT REPLAY to jump 24 hours back.

3. Highlight a show's title in the guide, then press RECORD.
4. On the screen that appears, select "Record This Showing." After the TiVo
   service schedules the recording, you'll return to the guide.
5. To find alternate airings of a show, highlight a show's title in the guide, then press RECORD.
6. Select "Season Pass and Other Options," and "View Upcoming Episodes." You can use this list to choose the showing that is most convenient for you to record.

All recorded shows appear in your "My Shows" list, which you can access simply by pressing the TiVo button on your remote control twice!

You can choose to display the guide as a grid, or use the TiVo Live Guide. When you're viewing the guide, press ENTER to display Guide Options and choose the view you want.

Searching by title on TiVo Premiere with HD menus

If you're using TiVo Premiere with HD menus, you can search by show title or person name (actor, director, etc.). The TiVo Service searches upcoming broadcast shows, web videos, and video on demand offerings all at the same time.

1. From TiVo Central®, select 'Find TV, movies, & videos,' then choose 'Search.'

2. The next screen has a grid of letters. Use the RIGHT, LEFT, UP, and DOWN arrows on your TiVo remote to move around the grid, then press SELECT to choose a letter.
   
   As you select letters, the TiVo service searches through all broadcast, web video, and video on demand offerings available for up to the next two weeks, and lists matches on the right side of the screen. For example, if you enter the letters HOW, you might see matches for the TV show "How I Met Your Mother," the video on demand movie "How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days," and the director Ron Howard. Results are sorted by popularity, with better matches appearing higher in the list.

3. Keep selecting letters until you see what you're searching for, then use the RIGHT arrow to highlight the show, and press SELECT to view the information screen.

4. Select "Get this show" to record the next showing or to set up a Season Pass recording.

5. From the information screen, you can also view upcoming episodes or an episode guide, learn more about cast members, and even access bonus features!

Tip: Replace hyphens ( - ), slashes ( / ) and periods ( . ) with spaces. For example, use 20 20 to search for the title "20/20." Any other marks, such as apostrophes ( ’ ), asterisks ( * ) and ampersands ( & ) are ignored. For example, use 6 OCLOCK NEWS to search for the title "6 O'Clock News."

All recorded shows appear in your "My Shows" list, which you can access simply by pressing the TiVo button on your remote control twice.

Searching by title with SD menus

If you know the title of the show you're looking for, you can find it in seconds!.

1. Press the TiVo button to go to the TiVo Central screen, then select "Find Programs."

2. Select "Search by Title."

3. If you want to limit your search to a specific category of show (HD shows,
   movies, etc.), select the desired category and subcategory. Otherwise, select "All programs."
4. The next screen has a grid of letters. Use the RIGHT, LEFT, UP, and DOWN arrows to move around the grid, then press SELECT to choose a letter.
5. Select the first few letters in your show's title. (You can leave off words like "The"). The TiVo service searches through all available shows (usually, those airing within the next two weeks), and lists matching shows on the right side of the screen.
6. When you see your show title displayed on the right side of the screen, press the RIGHT arrow to move to the list of shows.

7. Press the UP or DOWN arrow to highlight your show, then press SELECT.
8. A program information screen appears. You can use this screen to record the episode, view upcoming episodes, or get a Season Pass recording. See how to set up a Season Pass recording for more information on Season Pass recordings.

Searching by time or channel

1. Press the TiVo button to go to the TiVo Central screen, and then select one of the following:
   • On TiVo Premiere with HD menus, select "Manage recordings & downloads."

• On all other TiVo boxes or on TiVo Premiere with SD menus, select "Find Shows."

2. Select "Record by time or channel."

or

Browse by time

Browse shows on a specified day and time (for example, you can browse all shows airing on Saturday night at 8 p.m.).

1. Select "Browse by time."
2. If you want to limit your search to a particular category or set of channels (for instance, HD shows or your favorite channels, use the arrow buttons to highlight an option (for example, Movies), then press SELECT. If you don't want to limit your search, select "All channels."
3. Press the UP/DOWN arrows to select the date you want to see, then press RIGHT arrow to move to the time column, and press the UP/DOWN arrows to select a time.
4. Press SELECT to see the list of shows without leaving the time selector, or press RIGHT arrow to see the list of shows and move to the list.

All recorded shows appear in your "My Shows" list, which you can access simply by pressing the TiVo button on your remote control twice.

Browse by channel

Browse through shows airing on a particular channel.

1. Select "Browse by time."
2. Choose either "All Channels," which includes all the channels you receive, or "Favorite Channels," which includes just the channels you have selected as your favorites.
3. Press the UP/DOWN arrows to select the date you want to see, then press RIGHT arrow to move to the channel column.
4. Press the UP/DOWN arrows to select a channel. (You can also use the numbers on the remote to enter a channel, then press ENTER.)
5. Press SELECT to see the list of shows without leaving the channel selector, or press RIGHT arrow to see the list of shows and move to the list.
6. When you find a show you want to record, highlight it and press SELECT.

All recorded shows appear in your "My Shows" list, which you can access simply by pressing the TiVo button on your remote control twice.

Set up manual recording

Schedule a recording on a specific channel at a specific time (just as you would with a VCR).

1. Select "Set up manual recording."
2. Choose the frequency of the recording, using the UP/DOWN arrows to select "Once" or "Repeat," then press RIGHT arrow.
3. Choose the day(s) for the recording, using the UP/DOWN arrows to change the current selection. If you chose "Repeat," you can choose to repeat the recording on a specified day of the week ("Every Tuesday") or several times a week ("Every M – F" or "Every Day").
4. Press RIGHT arrow and choose a channel using the UP/DOWN arrows (or by entering a number with the remote, then pressing ENTER).
5. Press RIGHT arrow and set the hour, minute, and am/pm for the start and stop time, using the UP/DOWN arrows to change the current selection. Press RIGHT arrow or SELECT.
6. You'll see a confirmation screen. The TiVo box shows a "best guess" show title based on guide listings for that time and channel. Select "Create repeating recording."

Using Swivel Search

Note: Swivel Search is only available in SD Menus.

Swivel Search helps you find new shows that are related to shows you already like. Plus, it searches both broadcast TV and broadband downloads from TiVoCast.

1. Press the TiVo button to go TiVo Central, then select "Find Programs."

1. Select "Swivel Search."

1. Enter NEW YORK using the onscreen keypad. Notice that the tag NEW YORK appears in the right column marked with the TiVo Tag icon.

1. Highlight the NEW YORK tag and press SELECT on your remote. A screen listing a variety of matching shows appears, everything from Law & Order to Sesame Street.

1. Select Law & Order, then select "More program info..." in the right column. The Law & Order series screen lets you browse upcoming showings, and gives you a list of people and tags in the left column.
2. Select any person’s name and you’ll see other TV shows and movies related to that person, whether he or she is an actor, director, producer, etc. You can even select "If You Like This..." in the left column to see related shows.

1. Select any title to see options to record or download the show.

All recorded shows appear in your "My Shows List," which you can access simply by pressing the TiVo button on your remote control twice.

Note: Swivel Search works best if it searches only on channels you receive, ensuring that search results always include shows you can record. To do this, Swivel Search prompts you to change your privacy status to "opt in," allowing the TiVo service to store information about your channel lineup for use in Swivel Search.
