Windows 8 WiFi & Email Connection

Follow the Steps below to connect your Windows 8 device to your Charter WiFi and your Charter.net Email account

Wireless Connection

  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Settings Settings
    (If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Settings Settings)
  2. Tap/Click on the wireless network icon Network
  3. Tap/Click on your wireless network

  1. Tap/Click the Connect button

  1. Enter your WiFi password and tap/click the Next button

  1. Choose Yes or No when asked to turn on sharing/connect to devices

  1. Your device will connect to your wireless network

Charter Email

  1. On the Start screen tap/click the Mail tile

  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Settings Settings
    (If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Settings Settings)
  2. Tap/Click Accounts
  3. Tap/Click Add an account
  4. Tap/Click Other Account

  1. Expand the window by pressing the show details button
  2. Enter the below settings on the following screen:
  • Email Address: Your full Charter.net Email address
  • Username: Your full Charter.net Email address
  • Password: The password you use to login to your Email account
  • Incoming (IMAP) email server: mobile.charter.net
  • Port: 993
  • Incoming server requires SSL: Checked
  • Outgoing (SMTP) email server: mobile.charter.net
  • Port: 587
  • Outgoing server requires SSL: Checked
  • Outgoing server requires authentication: Checked
  • Use the same username and password to send and receive email: Optional

  1. Tap/Click the Connect button to complete the setup
