There are several reasons you may be experiencing dropped calls.
Are you experiencing dropped calls on:
Choose this option if you have no dial tone one one phone but have a dial tone on other phones in your home
Choose this if none of your phones have a dial tone

If calls are being dropped from only one phone in your house try using a different phone in the telephone jack that is dropping calls.
This will indicate whether the problem lies with the phone or telephone jack.
Note: After resetting your MTA it can take 5 minutes or longer for dial tone to be restored. If your MTA also provides internet access you will not be able to connect to the internet while the MTA is resetting.
