Caller ID on TV

Caller ID on TV is now available in most Charter markets.  Refer to Availability below to find out if Caller ID on TV is available in your area.

Caller ID on TV (CIDTV) lets you see details of incoming, and missed phone calls on your TV. There is no additional charge for Caller ID on TV when you subscribe to Charter Phone with Caller ID and Charter Digital TV with a Charter Digital Receiver. If you do not wish to use this service you can turn it off and manage Caller ID on TV settings with your Digital Receiver remote control

Note: MOXI digital receiverss are not Caller ID on TV compatible.

Requirements

There is no additional charge for Caller ID on TV when you subscribe to Charter Phone with Caller ID and Charter Digital TV with a Charter digital receiver that meets the requirements for Caller ID. If you do not wish to use this service you can turn it off with your digital set-top box remote control.

Charter Digital TV

Currently available on Motorola and Cisco/Scientific Atlanta Digital Receivers.

Not available on Moxi.

CIDTV is not compatible with analog devices or CableCARDs.

Charter Phone

Must subscribe to a Charter Phone package that includes Caller ID.

Basic Phone service does not qualify for CIDTV unless you purchased optional Caller ID.

CIDTV only works with the primary phone number. TV call alerts do not appear for incoming calls on secondary phone numbers or distinctive ring numbers.

NOTE: The CIDTV settings for each Digital Receiver, in multiple digital set-top box households, are independent of each other. When the settings are changed on one Digital Receiver, the changes do not affect the other Digital Receiver.

Impacts to recordings

If you are recording and watching a program you will see the caller information unless you turn off CIDTV, however if you are recording to watch a program later, your program will not record any Caller ID TV information. You will be able to see the call in the call logs.

Compatibility with CableCARDs

CIDTV is not compatible with CableCARDS.

Compatibility with MOXI

CIDTV is not compatible with MOXI.

Functionality

TV Call Alert

When an incoming call is received, the TV alert displays for several seconds, alternating between the caller's name and number, before disappearing automatically. While the alert displays, you can select one of the following options by using the left or right arrows and OK/Select on the remote.

NOTE: TV call alerts can display over the Interactive Program Guide for Cisco/Scientific Atlanta Digital Receivers, but not for Motorola Digital Receivers.

  • Settings: Access the Caller ID Settings to change CIDTV features such as the location the alert appears on the screen; deactivate CIDTV, and the Call Log.
  • Snooze: Prevent alerts from displaying for a pre-set period of time.
  • Dismiss: Immediately remove the alert from the screen.

NOTE: If two calls are received around the same time, the most recent call will override the first call received.

Snooze

The Snooze mode prevents the TV call alerts from displaying on your television screen for a pre-set time duration. The Snooze duration defaults to 60 minutes, but you can set it for 15, 30, 60, 120, 180, or 240 minutes. The alerts automatically resume once the duration expires. Refer to the Caller ID Settings section for more information. To change the snooze duration you must change it from "Settings".

NOTE: Snooze is accessible from either the Caller ID TV call alert display or the Caller ID Settings screen.

Follow these steps to adjust the Snooze the settings:

  1. Access the Caller ID on TV Settings menu from the call alert or from the Quick Menu
  2. Select On
  3. Select Snooze Duration
  4. Select the preferred Snooze Duration
  5. Click OK
  6. Select Yes for the Save Settings Changes confirmation window
  7. Click OK for the Features Changes Updated confirmation window

Access CIDTV Settings

You can access the CIDTV settings via the TV alert, accessing the Quick Menu via the Interactive Program Guide or in Cisco/Scientific Atlanta markets by the dedicated CIDTV channel located in your channel lineup.

NOTE: The process for accessing the Quick Menu via the Interactive Program Guide varies based upon whether you have a Cisco/Scientific Atlanta or Motorola Digital Receiver. The CIDTV alerts and settings accessible via the TV alerts are the same for both Cisco/Scientific Atlanta and Motorola Digital Receivers.

Motorola CIDTV Settings -

When not receiving an incoming call, the Caller ID on TV settings is accessible by following these steps from your remote. To navigate the Quick Menu screen use the left/right arrows and OK button on your remote.

  2. Use the left or right arrows to navigate to APPS.
  3. Press Select.

The Caller ID Settings screen allows you to turn Caller ID on TV on or off, change the location of where the alert will appear on your television screen, adjust the duration of the alert display, turn snooze on or off, and view the Call Log.

Motorola - View Call Logs

The Call Log lists the incoming calls received, including the caller's name, phone number, date and time called, and the duration of the call. The Call Log stores up to 30 logged calls and the incoming calls continue to log even with CIDTV is turned off. The system will be set to store the most recent 30 calls and replace the oldest calls with the newest calls when the total gets to 30

Cisco/Scientific Atlantic CIDTV Settings

To access the CIDTV settings via the Interactive Program Guide when not receiving an incoming call, follow these steps using the remote control:

  1. Press the Menu button.

  4. Press Select.

Troubleshooting

Calls not displaying

  1. CIDTV may be turned off. Check the settings to verify Notification is turned set to "On."
  2. Snooze may be active. Check the Settings to verify if the Snooze feature is set to "On". Change the setting to "Off" to re-activate CIDTV.
  3. Power cycle the Digital Receiver to reset the functionality
  4. Verify you subscribe to a Charter Phone package that includes Caller ID and the Digital Receiver they are referencing can support CIDTV.
    • You may have a mixture of digital set-top boxes in your home where some can support CIDTV and others cannot, refer to requirements at the beginning of this article to determine if your equipment supports CIDTV.
  5. If you have just installed Charter Phone service you will not receive CIDTV alerts for up to 48 hours after activation of Phone service.
  6. If you are receiving Caller ID on TV on at least one of your Digital Receivers and only one is responding with the above trouble shooting steps you will need to contact us.

Non-Qualifying Customers

If you do not meet the qualifications for CIDTV will receive the following message when you try to access the service. If you are interested in registering for CIDTV call the contact number on the screen to talk with a Charter representative to find out more details.
